I was supposed to get some errands done early today, but another heavy rainstorm hit just as I was about to leave. My street was flooded and for hours, water spewed down from chutes on the rooftops. I figured I wouldn’t be able to leave the apartment at all. But within a half hour of the storm’s final torrents, the streets were mostly clear and walkable again.
Wandering a new route, I found a supermarket half as expensive and twice as close as my usual one. I bought a giant bag of red grapes for three dollars. When you move to a new country, it’s the little things that count.
